To assign cargo to a trailer,you should first follow the extracting the base.scs tutorial before continuing with this tutorial.Assigning cargo is very easy to do,you have a trailer in your game that has 0 labled as its cargo,its a tanker trailer,so you`ld want to assign milk,grain,gasoline or something a tanker would carry to make it somewhat real,you would`nt want to assign cars for a cargo on a tanker trailer.First you need to know the name of the folder your trailer is labeled that you are going to assign cargo to.You can find this out by navigating to your My Documents\18 WoS Pedal to the Metal\makes\trailer folder.For this example we will assing gasoline as it`s cargo.Navigate to your My Documents\18 WoS Pedal to the Metal\defs\cargos folder,here you will see all the cargos defs for all the trailers in the game,you can open a def with a text editor such as notepad.Since we are assinging gasoline as the cargo we`ll open the gasoline.def.The def looks like this.
extdefs "/defs/cargo_base.def"
def cargo:cargo_base {
name: "@@cn_gasoline@@"
trailer:"tnk_gas"
variant:"1"
ico: "gasoline.mat"
}
A small description of the parts to the def to help you understand exactly what each part does.
name: Name of Cargo.
trailer: The name of the trailers folder located in your My Documents\18 WoS Pedal to the Metal\makes\trailer folder.
variant: The 1st shader(skin) in the desc def located in the trailers base folder !desc.def (note 0 is the first),the tnk_gas trailer also has fertiliser assigned to it that is the 0 shader.
ico: The icon associated with the cargo you see on the billboard over the trailers in the game while un attached.
So lets say our trailer with no cargo`s folder name is tnk_gas2,and it has 2 shaders(skins),and for both skins in the game you see 0`s.Just add the info to the cargo def.We`ll start with the first shader and assign gasoline,the gasoline.def now looks like this.
extdefs "/defs/cargo_base.def"
def cargo:cargo_base {
name: "@@cn_gasoline@@"
trailer:"tnk_gas: tnk_gas2"
variant:"1: 0"
ico: "gasoline.mat"
}
Now one of your skins(shaders) in the game for the trailer have cargo assigned to it,now choose what cargo your other skin will carry,do the same as above but with a different cargo.def,unless you want them both hauling gasoline,Also remember when doing the variant when assigning the next cargo is 1,not 0,
You can have many trailers assigned to the same cargo.def,even the same trailer twice..
